Ep 11: Why You Feel Aimless: Vision vs. Mission Explained

Bryan and Ryan break down the crucial difference between a vision and a mission, how to count the cost of changing your life, and why you have to ignore people who only see you at your worst.

Happy May the 4th! Welcome back to Episode 11 of Out of the Desert. To kick things off, Ryan fully embraces his inner nerd to talk about his controversial love for the Star Wars prequels, specifically Attack of the Clones.

Once the geek-out session concludes, the guys tackle a topic that gets confused all the time in both business and church: the difference between a vision and a mission. Ryan explains that your vision is your ultimate purpose and the reason you exist, while your mission is the actionable plan of how you are actually going to get there. Without a vision, we tend to cast off restraint and wander aimlessly through life.

Continuing their look into the life of Elijah, they discuss how he regained his vision and called Elisha, who first had to "count the cost" before leaving his plow behind. Bryan and Ryan discuss why faith requires putting in the actual work, why seeking out a professional therapist is a healthy part of the healing process, and why you have to stop caring about the opinions of people who will only ever see you in your worst moments.
