Ep 10: Stop Waiting for an "Earthquake" (Listen for THIS Instead)
Bryan and Ryan announce a massive expansion for Joshua Tree, then dive into the story of Elijah to unpack why we feel isolated and how God actually speaks in the desert.
Welcome to Episode 10 of Out of the Desert! To kick things off, Ryan shares some big news: Joshua Tree Service Group is expanding and opening a brand-new business office in Waycross, Georgia! For our main topic, we pick back up with the story of Elijah. After scoring a massive victory, Elijah runs for his life, ends up hiding in a cave, and asks to die. We discuss the incredible grace God shows him in that exhaustion (prescribing sleep and a little cake!), and why we need to stop expecting God to fix everything with a spectacular "earthquake" or "fire".
We often want a "microwave" fix to our problems, but God wants a relationship, choosing instead to speak in a still, small voice. We also talk about the lie of isolation—feeling like we are the only ones struggling when there are thousands of others who understand —and why getting out of the cave requires brutal honesty about where we are.
