Tennessee Vocational Services

  • Supported Employment Services are tailored for individuals with the most significant disabilities who require intensive, ongoing support to maintain competitive integrated employment.

We start by consulting with the individual to understand their unique abilities and interests, ensuring we find a job that pays a competitive wage and promotes social integration.

Our team helps individuals master their tasks, build relationships with coworkers, and manage their earnings while navigating social security benefits.

When the individual reaches a stable level of performance, we help transition them to "extended services" for long-term support. This ensures that both the employee and the employer have the continuous backing they need for long-term success.

  • Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is an evidence-based employment service specifically designed to help individuals with behavioral health conditions secure and maintain competitive jobs. The core philosophy of IPS is that anyone who wants to work can work, so we do not exclude individuals based on diagnoses, symptoms, or readiness assessments.

We use a rapid job search approach to help clients find work quickly, bypassing lengthy pre-employment training in favor of real-world experience. Our employment specialists work closely and collaboratively with the client's mental health treatment team to ensure their employment goals and wellness strategies are fully integrated. We also provide personalized benefits counseling to help clients understand how working will impact their government entitlements.

Best of all, job supports in the IPS program are time-unlimited, meaning we are there to provide individualized assistance for as long as the worker wants and needs it.

  • Job Coaching provides personalized, on-site support to ensure our clients thrive in their new workplace.

A dedicated job coach works side-by-side with the employee to help them learn specific job duties, meet the employer's production standards, and understand the company culture. We also focus on developing positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors, stepping in to resolve any difficulties that may arise.

Our coaches use the most effective and least intrusive teaching methods, empowering the individual to become increasingly independent over time. As the client gains confidence and natural workplace supports are established, our job coaching services are gradually reduced.

We also provide disability awareness information to the employer, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment for everyone.
