Ep 2: "I Lost Everything": Surviving the Desert of Divorce and Identity Loss | Ryan's Story
Ryan Herrington opens up about the "perfect storm" of 2017, the collapse of his marriage and ministry, and the "I Believe in You" fund that changed everything.
In Episode 2 of Out of the Desert, host Ryan Herrington takes the hot seat to share his personal desert story. Growing up in the church, Ryan felt he didn't have a choice but to be in ministry. He built his life on a foundation of performance and fear—terrified that if he didn't pastor, he would go to hell.
Ryan details the slow fade that led to his "crash" in 2017. Despite the outward appearance of a successful church and family, his foundation was crumbling. He opens up about the painful journey of divorce, resigning from the church, and the dark night in a rental house where he considered ending it all.
But the story doesn't end in the dark. Ryan shares the miraculous restoration that followed, including the "I Believe in You" fund from his father, meeting his wife Rachel (thanks to the band Creed), and finding a new, authentic identity as a son of God rather than a slave to ministry.
